With the qualifiers upon us, we are delighted to announce Kit Kat as our first Official Partner of the European Qualifiers for the Teamfight Tactics: Galaxies Championship. Even future champions have to take a break which is why we will be granting each of the 64 EU Qualifiers finalists a sweet 10 TFT Egg Series courtesy of our new partner.

Before you begin your journey to potentially becoming the first-ever TFT World Champion, we want to update the community and answer the most commonly-asked questions so that you’re all geared up to take on the ranked ladder qualification phase.

  • When are the Qualifiers going to start?

The Qualifiers will kick off on 16th June at 00:01 CET / 15th June at 23:01 BST. Once the Qualifiers begin, each competitive week you will need to play at least 10 games to be eligible to earn points for each of the 5 weeks of competition.

  • Do I have to apply to participate?

You do not need to apply to participate in the Qualifiers. We want to invite all our community to participate in the event and by utilising a ladder qualification process we can do that automatically. However, the top players of the General Leaderboard at the end of the 5 week period will have to register to the tournament platform to confirm their participation in the finals. If they don’t, the next player in the rankings will take their place.

  • When exactly are the ladder snapshots taken?

Snapshots will be taken on the following dates:

Snapshot #1 - 22nd June at 23:59 CET / 22:59 BST

Snapshot #2 - 29nd June at 23:59 CET / 22:59 BST

Snapshot #3 - 06th July at 23:59 CET / 22:59 BST

Snapshot #4 - 13th July at 23:59 CET / 22:59 BST

Snapshot #5 - 20th July at 23:59 CET / 22:59 BST

As for what will count as the last game of the day each week, we will include any games that started before 23:58 CET. For example, if a game starts at 23:50 on the 22nd of June and runs into the following day (ending on 23rd June at 00:32 for example), this game will still be taken into account for the Week 1 performance period.

You can use public ladder-tracking platforms as a reference but only Riot Games data will be considered official and used to build the Weekly Rank Table as well as the General Leaderboard. The Weekly Rank Table will be available 3-5 days after the snapshot is posted to the official Discord Server for the competition. The General Leaderboard will be published after the 5 weeks of qualifiers are completed.

  • Do I automatically qualify for the finals if I end in the top players of the server after week 5?

Leading the server by the end of Week 5, while an amazing accomplishment, won’t automatically give you access to the Finals. The competition admins will update the Weekly Rank Table and allocate points on a weekly basis. If you suddenly end your adventure leading the EUW or EUNE servers in Week 5, you won’t necessarily qualify as the General Leaderboard is based on players’ weekly performance so you’ll need to perform well consistently.

  • Can I try to qualify on several servers?

In the specific case of Europe, you can try to qualify on both the EUW and EUNE servers. However, as slots are limited by servers you will, at some point, have to decide between playing on multiple servers and risk not qualifying or spend more time on one server to have your best shot at qualifying. Moreover, points are allocated on a weekly basis which means you need to maintain your accounts at the top of the server while playing 10 or more games per week on each account to qualify after the 5 week period. Please check that you are eligible to compete on the EUW and EUNE servers by reading through the Residency rules section of the TFT Global Player Policy.

  • Can I change my Summoner name during the qualifier?

It’s important that you keep your Summoner name the same throughout the Qualifiers period because if you change it, we will not associate the new name with the old name so points will not be aggregated.

  • How are you going to monitor players' weekly performance?

Every week we will run a custom query to extract the top 300 players, from both the EUW and EUNE servers, who played at least 10 games during the week. Points will then be distributed accordingly to build the massive lists that are the Weekly Rank Table for each server.

At that point, we won’t be removing secondary accounts which means points will be allocated to all accounts based on rankings. The Weekly Rank Table will be turned into an online spreadsheet and will be available on the Discord server dedicated to the competition.

By the end of the ladder period (20th July) we will review the General Leaderboard and remove accounts and players who do not match the eligibility rules.

  • What are you going to do with Smurf accounts and Secondary Accounts?

We will be distributing points over the 5 week qualification process based on data extracted from our platform and then each week will monitor the top 64 players of each ladder (EUW and EUNE) in order to detect and flag secondary accounts. We will remove any secondary accounts by the end of the ladder period and obviously points will not accumulate over multiple accounts.

  • Does it mean that in the weekly snapshot we will see accounts which are not eligible to play the finals?

Yes. The weekly snapshot will display the original rankings extracted from our platform which may include secondary accounts, non eligible or toxic players. The official and definitive General Leaderboard will be released at the end of the 5 week period.

So, to reiterate. Do not take the weekly snapshots or any other tentative list of players that Riot or the community could publish as the definitive rankings. We will remove secondary accounts, players who don’t match the eligibility rules, players who fail to contact Riot Games to confirm their participation and those that fail behaviour tests. The official list of the 64 players who have qualified for the finals will be published sometime in early August.

  • How will Riot contact me by the end of the ladder period?

On 24th July, Riot Games will publish a list with the “Tentative” General Leaderboard for each server. At this stage, all players who have potentially qualified for the finals must be on the tournament Discord link and registered to the tournament platform. So, if your name is on the list you will have to reach out to Riot Games and if you match all of the eligibility requirements, you will be able to compete in the Finals. By the 31st of July, we will need the 64 players to be enrolled on the tournament platform as our goal is to publish the list of finalists on August 4th with all players 100% confirmed.

We will provide more information about this process when we publish the “Tentative” Global Leaderboard. So, if you are close to the top 40 in EUW or top 16 in EUNE, please login to the Discord link and keep your eyes peeled as there is still a chance you will qualify should some players in the tentative 64 be unable to compete.

The qualifiers are kicking off soon so be ready to start your journey to potentially proving yourself amongst the best players in the galaxy and becoming TFT’s first-ever World Champion. GL HF!
