Champ Insights: Galio, the Colossus

Gargoyles are basically fancy drainage pipes. And our old buddy Galio is definitely not a drainage pipe—he's a living statue that counters the cloaks off of magic-wielding enemies. We wanted to make him into a more important player in Demacia's story. So we needed to make him bigger.

Champ Insights: Camille, the Steel Shadow

Nothing is more badass than a lady with giant freakin' swords for legs. As a piece of concept art, Camille was pretty dope from the get-go. But to make her into a real character, we had to answer another question: what sort of person would replace their legs with a two-piece hextech knife set?

Champion Insights: Taliyah, the Stoneweaver

When was the last time we released a traditional mage? Aurelion Sol feels untraditional because of his orbiting stars, Ekko is more of a Diver or Skirmisher, and Azir has Marksman-like qualities. Vel'Koz is totally an artillery mage, but many players took him bot lane to play Support. You've got to go all the way back to Lissandra to find a champ that really fits the "traditional mage" label, and she was released in April, 2013. Then it hit us—what about an earth mage?

Champion Insights: Taric, the Shield of Valoran

As we've tweaked and tuned the visuals on Taric's co-stars, the crystal-coated, pizza-footed Demacian began to feel like an eyesore by comparison. Couple his outrageous visuals with an outdated kit, and we had a prime candidate for a rework—but our goal wasn't to completely replace him. Instead, we sent the Gem Knight on an epic journey to transform him into the Shield of Valoran.
