I found (was pretty intuitive) that a decent counter is Nidalee (even though u're unlikely to run her mid): u only have a 0.5 sec window to cast ur Q when he goes Locus, but it's a guaranteed hit, and half his hp gone . Positioning is really important obviously. Smart Cast will make easier not to miss that window. And ofc Q must be lvled first, but any Nida does that xP

Note that the strong point of this so-called counter is that Nida's Q does insane dmg. Cait could Piltover his ass too, but the dmg is not that great in comparison, so...

Cait's Q doesn't have enough range, and he can stand behind minions to avoid Nid.

Pantheon mid, I suppose. I'd say anyone with a form of CC can hold their own, for example Veigar. It's just like dealing with Nidalee's, Blitzcranks and Karthus', prediction and timing.
