I was wondering why this was done? is it because maybe Riot was worried that it was unprofessional in anyway or it was making people think the game wasn't serious or people that hadn't played the game thinking it was unfair or something?

It's only like this so everyone can find the real spotlight instead of it. Still exists in the announcements as an april fools though of course.
