eSports Competition Rulings: Suspensions of StunnedandSlayed, Veigodx and Rayt3ch
Summoners –
Below are rulings on a trio of players who are currently on Team Solo Mebdi, a team which was scheduled to play in the League of Legends Championship Series (“LCS”) European Qualifier this weekend in Warsaw. Unfortunately, facts have come to light regarding the toxic behavior of these players which requires us to ban their accounts and eliminate them from the EU Qualifier. This will also have the effect of disqualifying Team Solo Mebdi from the tournament. Of course, nobody wants to take actions like these so close to a tournament event, but it takes time to carefully investigate, review and uncover all of the relevant historical facts of players (especially when they’ve operated under multiple banned accounts), and we never make decisions like these lightly. As always, one of our top goals is to ensure that players seeking to compete in the LCS represent the principles of good sportsmanship and clean play. The tl:dr is that all three players are ineligible to compete in the LCS during this season and two of them are indefinitely suspended. |
League of Legends Competition Ruling
Player: Khaled Abusagr / StunnedandSlayed Region: Europe Date of Ruling: 01.23.13 Subject: Suspension; Violations of Summoner’s Code Facts Recently, Riot completed an investigation into the account histories of the players on teams which are scheduled to compete in the upcoming League of Legends Championship Series (“LCS”) European Qualifier. The investigation has confirmed a number of facts in the player history of Khaled Abusagr (“Abusagr”), including a consistent pattern of in-game verbal abuse, racism, anti-Semitism and threatening behavior which require immediate action. Abusagr’s current account, StunnedandSlayed, has been suspended by the Tribunal five times, including a recent two-week suspension in December. This account has established a persistent record of in-game harassment, verbal abuse, and unacceptable behavior:
Much worse, however, is the unprecedented multitude of violations in Abusagr’s gameplay history:
Despite years of repeated punishments, official warnings, and permabans, Abusagr has continued his pattern of unacceptable behavior during the past several months under the StunnedandSlayed account, even as his team advanced into the upcoming LCS EU Qualifier. As a result of this player’s abject history of poor sportsmanship and harmful actions, the player behavior team has issued a lifetime ban on Abusagr. His StunnedandSlayed account has been permabanned and all future accounts will be permabanned on sight. Relevant Rules The Summoner's Code establishes the standards of behavior for all League of Legends players. Analysis Abusagr’s behavior represents the extreme edge of violations of the letter and spirit of the Summoner’s Code. The persistence and ferocity of his abusiveness and aggressiveness are the antithesis of acceptable conduct for the League of Legends community. Ruling Abusagr has fully violated every part of the Summoner’s Code. Competition Penalties Abusagr is:

The investigation has confirmed a number of facts in the player history of Nicolaj Jensen (“Jensen”), including a consistent pattern of in-game verbal abuse, offensive behavior and negative attitude which require immediate action. Jensen’s Veigodx account has been punished by Tribunal three times, including as recently as January 9, 2013. In fewer than three months since the creation of this account, the Veigodx account has established a consistent record of in-game harassment, abuse, and poor behavior:
Worse, however, are the violations in Jensen’s gameplay history:
As a result of this player’s history of DDOS activity, abusive behavior and poor sportsmanship, the player behavior team has issued a lifetime ban on Jensen. His Veigodx account has been permabanned and all future accounts will be permabanned on sight. League of Legends Competition Ruling
Player: Simon Näslund / Rayt3ch Region: Europe Date of Ruling: 01.23.13 Subject: Suspension; Violations of Summoner’s Code Facts Recently, Riot completed an investigation into the account histories of the players on teams which are scheduled to compete in the upcoming League of Legends Championship Series (“LCS”) European Qualifier. The investigation has confirmed a number of facts in the player history of Simon Näslund (“Näslund”), including a consistent pattern of in-game verbal abuse, offensive behavior and negative attitude which require immediate action. Näslund’s current account, Rayt3ch, has built a harassment score so high that it warrants an automatic permanent ban. After reviewing the case, the Riot player behavior team has now issued the permaban. The Tribunal previously punished the Rayt3ch account seven times, establishing a persistent record of in-game harassment, verbal abuse, and poor behavior.
Despite repeated punishments and official warnings, Näslund’s behavior has worsened in the past several months, even as his team advanced into the upcoming League of Legends Championship Series (“LCS”) Season Three EU Qualifier.
This is not Näslund’s first permaban. Two months ago, on November 21, 2012, the Tribunal also issued a permaban on Näslund’s previous account, WinFakt El Muppo. Relevant Rules The Summoner's Code establishes the standards of behavior for all League of Legends players. Analysis Näslund has consistently engaged in behavior which violates the letter and spirit of the Summoner’s Code. His tendency to engage in verbal abuse, insults and offensive behavior is unacceptable for any player, especially a high-profile eSports competitor who has a regular opportunity to lead the community by example. Ruling Näslund has violated the Summoner’s Code in a persistent and unapologetic fashion. Competition Penalties Näslund is:

Naming and shaming, even by riot staff? Most of us don't know who these people are....

This seems pretty unfair on several levels.
Firstly: Why do it so shortly before the tournament, despite the team having been qualified and confirmed to participate in it? This either leaves an empty spot in the roster; if anything they should've not been allowed to play the qualifier in the first place. I'm assuming the team that placed under them will now play the LCS tournament and on such a short notice too. Secondly: Publicly revealing the players' real names and shaming them in front of everybody? This does not only go against your very own policy of no "naming and shaming" but might also be questionable in legal terms. At the very least it's not a moral thing to do. Thirdly: all future accounts will be permabanned on sight. This is new. Other players who got permabanned and banned from competitive play (ie. I Will Dominate) did not receive such treatment, in fact it's unprecedenced if I'm correct. And other players who got permanently banned under the same context whose behaviour was worse than wizikx's did not receive such punishment either. (ShookL2) Just goes to show how professionally you handle things. |
